In the post 911 era the issues of counterfeit ID cards along with unauthorized access to locations within a facility are at an all time high. In recent months there has been a lot of media coverage discussing the technological merits of ID card and ID card usage. These discussions have covered a wide range of technologies from card design, biometrics, smart cards too proximity cards. A further hot topic relating to ID cards is the overt and covert security features embedded in the manufacturing of cards, placement in barcodes or magnetic stripes. While these approaches all have merits and are essential in the use of the ID card themselves there still remains the concern of secure ID card issuance.

WHY IS THIS UNIQUE?
Lexington Technology has addressed the concerns of secure ID card issuance by introducing the IDMX SQL a Secure Client Server and a SQL desktop Secure Network Version of software packages. These products are true client-server applications designed to enterprise-level financial system security specifications. This IT line of software products is the catalyst which bonds the various ID card technologies to protect against unauthorized, fraudulent or counterfeit ID card issuance. This is the first, commercially available “Out-of-the-Box” SQL based photo identification software with embedded biometrics functionality for applications requiring large databases or high levels of security.
The most significant features of this software are:
- The package is true client-server based software and not ‘ODBC’ enabled workstation versions. This means no data, employee or card design, is stored on the client workstations which lowers the risks of security breeches or exposure.
- All data is contained within the SQL Server environments. This feature is includes but is not limited to all employee data, images, security information, design, reports and audit trail information.
- In addition to standard database security levels, the IDMX™ series provides two extremely important additional levels of security at the application layer:
- When an operator is logging on to their workstation the system will validate the operator’s logon. During the logon process they are checked against internal encrypted security information residing within the database.
- If the operator logon is validated by passing a series of internal security assessments, the client server software is then configured using a different series of predefined security profiles for the specific operator logging on.
- The software can be installed and configured by internal staffing thereby eliminating the need for time consuming or costly customization.
The software also provides all the features normally found in Card Personalization software including, unlimited custom card designs, data elements, image capture or import, configurable data screens, biometrics, smart-card support and batch printing. Additional functionality such as photo images with ghosting, watermark images with brightness control, auto assign sequential or select unique card serial numbers all provide enhancements to this software package.
